Going through these records, and discussing the cases with the other healers, you learn that the phenomenon seem to mostly affect spiritual people. Priests of the Halls of Wonders, the nomadic halfling shamans and the hierophants of the triton dwelling of Kaphelos.
- These records all indicate the feeling and vision of being pulled underwater and drowned. Some of the subjects have reported loosing their sense of taste, and vomiting seem to be common as well, with some of the cases indicating black bile as a symptom.
Investigating a connection to the divine, you reach out to members of the Ascended to learn more about the older traditions of Stormhaven, and the older myths surrounding the religion of the Path of Fire and Ice.
- Warnings of keeping away from "deep black waters" seem to be a common theme in the old prayers to the Lord of Frost
- Fishermen and sailors supposedly share many tales of a gaping black hole in the sea that swallows the.. "cunty gits that has little sea salt in their bones".
- The subject of the waters have occurred before in history, but even the wisest oracles and clerics has been unable to uncover more about the strange event.

- Old mythical records of the times following the Calamity mentions the Lord of Frost as a savior of the world for covering the world in ice, containing, among other horrible things "putrid black waters that would consume flesh and soul alike".
- Records of "movement in the waters" is a theme in several of these records.
