Icy steps climb to a snow-covered walkway that clings to the south side of the structure. The building’s slumped posture and sagging, snow-covered roof, coupled with the broken windows and loose, flapping shutters, suggest utter abandonment. Large snowdrifts huddle around the rotting stilts and engulf a nearby woodshed and outhouse. Only the wind visits this sinister place."
The Black Cabin could be found a bit off the road leading from Stormhaven to Frostreach. Depleted magical runestones found in the near vicinity hinted that the cabin had been hidden by illusion magic for some time, although these defenses were of now, inactive.
When the party visited the cabin, they found it abandoned and haunted by Macreadus, a human artificer that had dabbled in volatile transmutation, ultimately costing him his life. The party found blueprints hinting at constructing a potent magical item known as the Shining Star - a piece of a mythallar surrounded by protective adamantine rings imbued with defensive magic.
After agreeing to bring the designs with them, the inhabitants of the cabin, Macreadus and his Gray Render pet, turned hostile and caused the entire cabin to collapse and fall 140 feet into the cliffside leading into the Frostmane Forest to the north.
