Description:  Celestian is the god of stars, travel, knowledge, and protection. He has power over meteors, comets, asteroids, and similar bodies, and some influence over light and weather. He can summon astral devas to serve him. Celestian is the patron of travelers, especially those that travel the realms of the Million Spheres and the Astral Sea.

Celestian appears as a tall middle-aged man dressed in black robes with jewels worked into them, shining like distant stars and suns. He has dark skin and hair, with his voice being heard as cold and soft when he speaks. His holy symbol is a circle with a semicircle inside of it, held in place by a horizontal bar dividing the circle in half. It is frequently set with seven gemstones , amethyst, diamond, emerald, jacinth, ruby, sapphire, and topaz.

The Star Wanderer is possibly the most active of the "Gods of Light", and is normally spoken of as a deity instead of a vestige like many of the others are thought to be.

Dogma

Followers of Celestian are expected to be skilled in astronomy and navigation.  They are encouraged to travel often, especially to other realms and worlds if possible.  They are also expected to gather knowledge and learn the secrets of the stars, using them to further their understanding of the grand scheme of things.

Priests of Celestian search the world, the sky and the Planes for meteorites, artifacts and knowledge that falls under Celestian's sphere.  They are very studious and meditative, adept at divinations, and can be rather introverted people, detached from day-to-day existence.  Followers are also directed to give shelter, food, water, and advice to travelers as needed. They also may give directions, and help travelers find work.

According to legend, Celestian once sent an enormous meteor towards Alfaysia. This landed somewhere in Eastern Alyndrica and burrowed deep underground. This meteor became known as Celestian's Gift. It is not clear what it is: some call it a philosophical truth while others call it the purest adamantine in all of the multiverse.

Tenets Of The Faith

  • Travel, and learn the secrets of the stars and cosmos as much as you can.
  • Seek knowledge amongst the world, and shelter those that do likewise.
  • Respect and understand the void as you would a deadly snake, but do not fall under its sway, nor allow others to do so.

River of the Sky, Travels of the Far Wanderer is a 45-page book of aphorisms and devotionals to Celestian.  An intricate star design has been worked into its leather cover.

The distant stars are an inspiration to travel, be encouraged to wander far from home, just as the stars do. The stars are eternal and are pleased to be a guide for both legs of a journey. The stars may reveal their secrets if you study them. Celestian and the stars are beacons on the final journey, leading the soul to its final reward.
