Short term: To learn to trust people, and to trust himself around others in his group. This will hopefully lead to a sense of selfdiscovery and reflection, triggering a yearning to connect, belong and be accepted for who and what he is.
Long term: To be accepted and befriended by the very elves he fought against in his younger years, and be welcomed into their society as a trusted ally.
