Custom Wolfblood Merits

The following Merits are unique to the Anchorage chronicle and reflect the challenges and opportunities of being Wolf-Blooded in Alaska.

Tundra Walker (•• or ••••)

Prerequisites: Wolf-Blooded, Survival •••

At two dots, you never suffer environmental penalties from cold, snow, or ice when navigating Alaska’s wilderness, and you halve travel times through backcountry. At four dots, you can lead up to a number of companions equal to your Survival score safely through wilderness that would kill experienced outdoorsmen — they suffer no environmental penalties while traveling with you. Spirits of the wild regard you as a kindred presence and rarely attack you unprovoked.

Aurora Reader (••)

Prerequisites: Wolf-Blooded, Occult ••

You can interpret the aurora borealis the way a meteorologist reads weather patterns — but for the spirit world. By watching the aurora for at least ten minutes, roll Intelligence + Occult to determine the general state of the local Shadow: whether spirits are agitated or calm, whether the Gauntlet is thinning or thickening, and whether anything powerful has recently crossed over. An exceptional success reveals the general direction of the disturbance.

Earthquake-Scarred (•••)

Prerequisites: Wolf-Blooded

Your family was in Anchorage during the 1964 earthquake, and the spiritual trauma passed down through the bloodline. You always know your exact distance and direction to the nearest Gauntlet wound. You gain +3 to any roll to interact with spirits that emerged from or were affected by the quake. However, you suffer –1 to Composure when physically standing at a wound site.

Denali’s Vigil (••)

Prerequisites: Wolf-Blooded, Resolve •••

Named for the great mountain, this Merit represents iron will forged by the frontier’s brutality. You gain +2 on all breaking point rolls related to witnessing supernatural horror, isolation, or cosmic horror. Once per story, you can spend a Willpower point to automatically succeed on a breaking point roll.

Frozen Compact (•• or ••••)

Prerequisites: Wolf-Blooded, Pack Bond •

You have forged a personal agreement with one of Alaska’s ancient ice or darkness spirits. At two dots, the spirit provides minor favors: freezing a lock, extinguishing a fire, dropping a room’s temperature. At four dots, the spirit actively intervenes once per chapter — creating a localized blizzard, flash-freezing a body of water, or concealing you in supernatural cold that renders you invisible to thermal detection and spirit senses for one scene. The compact comes with a Ban determined at character creation with Storyteller approval.

Last Light (•)

Prerequisites: Wolf-Blooded

You have adapted to Alaska’s extreme photoperiod. You suffer no penalties from seasonal affective disorder, light deprivation, or the psychological effects of prolonged darkness. More importantly, you provide a grounding presence: any Uratha in the same scene as you gains +1 to resist Harmony-threatening effects caused by extreme seasonal shifts.

❄ Alaska Note: Custom Merits and the Chronicle

Frozen Compact is ideal for Wolf-Blooded who want a personal connection to Alaska’s ancient spirit courts. Aurora Reader and Earthquake-Scarred tie you to the setting’s spiritual geography. Last Light is a small but powerful Merit that makes your Wolf-Blooded invaluable to the pack during the long dark months.
