Spring's social Hollow and the Freehold's unofficial living room. Located in the Interior along a well-worn Trod from the Hearthstone, the Thaw House looks different to almost everyone who visits — not through any deliberate illusion, but because the Hollow's dream-logic responds to what its occupants need. The exterior is generally agreed to be a rambling wooden structure with warm light in the windows, something between an Alaskan roadhouse and a cabin that has been added onto for decades without a plan.
Inside, the Thaw House is warm. Always warm. The central room is a bar and common area run by Felix Moreau, furnished with mismatched chairs, worn tables, and a long counter behind which Felix works with the quiet efficiency of a man who has made ten thousand drinks and remembers what every one of them was for. Side rooms serve various purposes depending on the season and the need: therapy circles, crash space for newly arrived Changelings, planning sessions for Spring operations, or simply a quiet place to sit without anyone asking you to do anything. There is always something cooking. There is always something playing softly in the background. The Thaw House smells like woodsmoke, good food, and the particular warmth of a space that is actively refusing to let the cold win.
The Thaw House serves as the Freehold's primary social infrastructure. It is where new arrivals are brought after intake. It is where Changelings go when they need to be around people but don't want to talk. It is where information circulates, gossip spreads, and the Freehold's mood can be read by anyone paying attention. Felix knows more about the state of the Freehold than most monarchs, not because he spies but because everyone tells their bartender things they wouldn't tell their king.
All Courts are welcome. All Courts use it. Winter sends people here when the Long Dark gets too heavy. Summer's warriors come here before and after Burns. Autumn's researchers surface here when they've been in the Archive too long. The Thaw House is neutral ground by tradition and defended as such: starting trouble here is one of the fastest ways to earn the displeasure of all four Courts simultaneously.
