So, I’ve been wondering this for a long time, and I’m not sure if it breaks rules or anything to ask. I assume the information is at least Top Secret or above. But I understand the reason we can’t have technology that’s under 20 years old... But why iPads?
Call me crazy but I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the loophole. I guess if we count the MessagePad it’s 27 years old, but that’s not really a tablet proper. The CO is usually pretty finnicky about these kinds of things. Outliers don’t count, they must be what you think of in the global psyche. Most people wouldn’t think of a 1993 black and white touch screen abomination a tablet. Counting smart phones which are ~14 years old in their current form that still doesn’t meet the two-decade requirement.
Am I missing something? Why are iPads the exception? And why specifically apple branded iPads, not just a generic tablet? I feel like I’m losing my mind. I know the unofficial motto of working here is “nothing makes sense, don’t ask” but I spend most of my days sitting in front of a 30 year old piece of junk when some people wander past with their sleek mostly new ipads. I have 200MEGAbytes of hard drive space with a CRT monitor and they have touch screens. WHAT!?
