The band resting some days in the Moon Temple at the care of the Tsukikage, as they used some magical healing methods using their Ley Line. Most of the Band's members recovered, except Kanako, her arm has began to heal but not completely. The Band reunites at Marquis of Carabás.
There, they began planning how to deal with the cultists, and the gang violence in the city, that is connected with a drug that contains magical properties still yet unknown to themselves. During the talking, a person storms the place, Balthasar, looking pale and gasping. He wants to talk to Kanako, as she is a member of the Tsukikage, as they are one group trying to solve the city's supernatural problems. Balthasar explained he left the Ordo Aureum Aurora, a cult of sorcerers that are causing troubles in the city. He wanted to warn that they are looking for a book that was stolen. This book has powerful spells and magical knowledge, it must not fall into wrong hands. The Band began investigating about the book's nature and how it was stolen.
Kanako accessed her contacts with the Tsukikage, and discovered some clues that someone inside the Yakuza could have stolen, a pendant from one of their men was found in the crime scene. Balthasar talked with a friend of his, John Potter, a librarian and researcher on magical practices working in the Chicago's Public Library. He explained that a book with the properties they are looking for could very well be the Codex Draco Rubrum, a powerful book in the care of Ashley Alafousus. This book was acquired recently by her, and if the legends are true, this book was used by catholic monks to summon creatures and demons to grant them wishes. Naion entered in contact with his broken, Rudek, in another pub in the city, and learned that there were some gangs, like the Triad, looking for some artifacts of some kind. He said that would contact Naion if he uncovered more info. Dexter and Alexander consulted the owner of Marquis of Carabás, a Prophetess of Apollo. They discovered that the book was stolen by someone working for another person much more powerful that has the ability to control blood, and give power to others using its blood. The person who stole the book done it by breaking magical wards, as she sensed that the book had some magical protection.
The Band reunited again after investigating about the book with their contacts, and went to talk to Saburou, the Oni, Alexander imprisoned after rescuing Kanako. They never discovered any other information about Vaenndr, the oni's master, but have persuaded him to not work for him anymore. Saburou asked the Band in the past if they can help him find his lost brother, another Oni, that is imprisoned somehow by magical forces. Saburou could have more answers about the book, and possibly who would have wanted it, besides the prime suspect being the cultists from Ordo Aureum Aurora.
As they arrive in the building where the Oni is kept as prisoner, Alexander see his guards knockout. They go to the last floor in the abandoned commercial building, they find the oni fighting four members of the Tsukikage. Alexander entered in the fight to protect Saburou, and Kanako was caught in an impasse in who she should help. Saburou smash the head of a Tsukikage's agent, and Kanako tries to talk everyone out of the fight with the help of Alexander. They convinced that the priority is find the book, not to fight each other. The leader of this raid, Takeshi Matsuhiro, explained that they discovered about the oni, and he should be slain because of the victims he made on the city. He is a monster, not a person. The agents considered this as a stalemate, but will report this incident to Kanako's superiors, as she is betraying her creed.
The Band spoke with Saburou, and learned more about Vaenndr, that he knows about sorcery, and how to destroy wards. He also is a collector of artifacts, and was previously working with the Ordo Aureum Aurora by supplying ingredients for magical rituals, like the people he was kidnapping before for sacrifices. It is possible that he stole the book for the cultists. After the Band interrogated Saburou, they hear the noise of a siren from a police car approaching because of the gunshots Naion shot in the last battle.
