Tekal holds a special place in Kasathan history. Ages ago, one of the first batches of Kasathan space travelers crash-landed on the planet after a freak accident. Desperate and weak, the survivors soon realized that, of all planets, Tekal was one of the best to stumble upon. Plentiful water and arable land created a near-perfect settlement zone.
Near-perfect, however, because it turned out that at a certain time of the year, the planet would get close to its sun, causing rapid evaporation of a lot of the planet's water. The vapor would cool and coalesce by nightfall, and due to its slow rotation, this constant slow cycle of heating and cooling created terrible storms and greenhouse effects. Many settlements were wiped out, but through Kasathan faith and determination, there were always those who could live out the storms and rebuild, though this time with proper protections.
Nowadays, Tekal is seen as an example of Kasathan hardiness and willingness to keep going despite the odds.
