The cosmos are governed by six gods, known as The Six. The gods act through immortal demigods called Primordials—Angels, Devils, Archons, Daemons, Fae, and Wraiths. Some guide. Some tempt. Some enforce order. Some exist purely to preserve balance, or destroy it.
Magic exists but is structured and limited. It cannot resurrect the dead, cannot override free will, and cannot violate time. The laws of magic keep it relevant and interesting without power creep; magic can’t solve every problem. Sorcery is inherited through bloodlines, Witchcraft is learned, and Invokers make pacts with Primordials.
The primary setting is Acadia, an independent nation resembling the late 1990s/early 2000s culturally and technologically. On the surface, it’s a modern republic. Beneath that? A semi-formal aristocracy built on magical lineage, wealth, and political leverage.
Old families marry strategically.
Manarine (a rare magical crystal) is tightly regulated.
Corporations maintain private security forces.
Reputation functions as currency.
Power is inherited. Influence is negotiated. Love is often collateral.
I have many powerful families in this setting drafted already. You are welcome to run with them or make your own!
✧ Acadia
Acadia is an independent nation carved out of northeastern North America — encompassing Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, the southern St. Lawrence region, and the Canadian Maritimes — with New York City as its capital. It has a population of roughly 50 million and resembles the late 1990s/early 2000s in culture and technology: landlines common, internet slow and academic, trains widely used, life more local and less algorithm-driven. Officially a republic, it functions socially like a restrained aristocracy, where old families quietly shape finance, media, academia, and magical regulation. To live in Acadia is to experience a modern, bureaucratic society layered over inherited power structures — most citizens will never attend a high-society gala or negotiate a marriage alliance, but they feel the ripple effects in which companies thrive, which research gets funded, and who rises quickly. It’s stable, educated, prosperous — and subtly stratified, with magic and lineage always humming just beneath the surface of everyday life.
