WhiskerJet Mk.I is an early experimental personal flight apparatus developed by the Whiskerton Aeronautics Society for student training and short-distance aerial testing. Though no longer regarded as the Academy’s most reliable model, the Mk.I remains popular among ambitious engineering students due to its repairable construction and unusual adaptability. The design combines brass fittings, leather harnesses, compact steam-assisted propulsion, pressure gauges, and stabilising fins.

Designed primarily for short-distance aerial practice, the Mk.I prioritises accessibility and repairability over elegance or comfort. Though Academy instructors officially discourage modifications, student engineers rarely resist the temptation to improve — or accidentally worsen — their machines. The device is known for occasional instability, unpredictable fuel efficiency, and an alarming tendency to produce unfamiliar noises shortly before landing. Academy staff generally describe this behaviour as: "A valuable practical learning opportunity." Most surviving models are now found in Academy workshops, private collections, or attached to students with questionable levels of caution. |
