The Student and Apprentice Class
The Student and Apprentice Class represents the youngest generation of Whiskerton's future engineers, craftsmen, scholars, navigators, administrators, and inventors. Though they come from every district and nearly every social background, they share one defining characteristic: they are still learning. Members of this class can be found throughout the city's academies, workshops, laboratories, factories, libraries, and training halls. Some study advanced engineering at the Whiskerton Aeronautics Society Academy. Others learn drafting, clockmaking, metallurgy, navigation, bookkeeping, or machine maintenance under experienced masters. Most possess little wealth. Many possess little experience. Almost all possess more ambition than wisdom. The Student and Apprentice Class serves as the foundation upon which Whiskerton continually renews itself. Every respected professor was once a student. Every master craftsman was once an apprentice. Every factory owner, inventor, engineer, and city official began somewhere. In Whiskerton, they begin here. Typical Members
ReputationOlder generations often describe this class with equal measures of affection and concern. They are known for curiosity, enthusiasm, questionable judgment, and an impressive ability to create entirely new problems while attempting to solve existing ones. Among professors, workshop masters, and factory supervisors, a common saying persists: "Experience is what apprentices acquire immediately after discovering why the instructions existed in the first place."
