Garden District
The Green Heart of Whiskerton The Garden District is the quietest and most verdant district of Whiskerton. Where the The Copper District is driven by industry and the Academic District by knowledge, the Garden District grows according to older rhythms. Tree-lined avenues, conservatories, botanical collections, public gardens, fountains, greenhouses, and hidden courtyards occupy much of the district. Many residents believe it to be the most beautiful district in the city, though few can agree where its boundaries truly begin or end. Some pathways appear on official maps. Others seem to wander where they please. The district contains some of the oldest surviving public gardens in Whiskerton, including several originally established during the final decades of the Brass Crown Dominion. As a result, gardeners, botanists, herbalists, archivists, and curious students frequently visit the district in search of rare plants, forgotten records, and quiet places to think. The district is also home to numerous conservatories and botanical collections, some open to the public and others maintained by private institutions. Among local residents, one saying remains particularly popular: "If Whiskerton has misplaced something, the Garden District will eventually find it." Notable Features
Reputation Residents of other districts often describe the Garden District as peaceful, eccentric, and slightly mysterious. Many claim that no two maps of the district are ever quite identical. The City Archives officially deny this. The City Archives have also stopped discussing the matter. |
