South Docks Map

An archival district map of Whiskerton’s southern harbour, showing the working docks, cargo yards, warehouses, shipwrights’ rows, and the busy waterfront that connects the city to the wider world.

Description

This City Archives map presents the South Docks as a dense working harbour shaped by water, rail, freight yards, warehouses, and practical dockside architecture. The map records the district’s main piers, loading areas, dry docks, shipwrights’ rows, coal and supply yards, and cargo routes.

Unlike decorative city views, this map was prepared in the archival style used for Whiskerton’s major district records. It emphasizes functional geography, trade movement, harbour infrastructure, and the relationship between water transport and land-based freight.

The only adjacent district marked on the map is the Lantern District, shown as a nearby reference point rather than a detailed secondary area.

Map Features

The map includes docks, piers, warehouses, cranes, railway lines, bridges, cargo squares, ship repair areas, and the harbour light. These elements reflect the district’s role as Whiskerton’s primary point of arrival and departure for goods, vessels, workers, and travelers.

The layout remains intentionally broad. It identifies major harbour zones without fixing every shop, office, warehouse tenant, or minor pier, allowing future local maps and articles to expand the South Docks without contradicting the main district map.
