Tritons are a noble and ancient race from a civilization formed on the bottom of the sea. Legends say that the Tritons were once an advanced race of elves living on the surface, on a continent long gone. They built fantastical structures, developed ingenious technology, and wielded powerful magic that has been lost to the Aeons. But for all their might, they were powerless in the face of a Leviathan brought to their shores by freak solar storm. As their cities flooded and their children drowned, the greatest mages among them were able to harness the Sun's arcing energy in a machine that transformed every living soul among them into beings suited to live under the water. Now known as the Tritons, they live in metropolitan communities scattered on the ocean floor, collectively called The Cities of Tritia. They mostly keep to themselves, trying to rediscover the lost secrets of their past underwater, but some do emerge to the surface to trade, protect surface dwellers from threats of the sea, or simply to adventure.
