Residing on Chordas' White Coast, Shifters have a significantly less animal-like appearance than other Chordans, and are mostly human looking with a few minor changes. They also don't have a consistent animal that they appear as, some being like tigers, others like wolves, bears, boars, elk, etc. Finally, they can seem to choose whether they lean into their more animal aspect or their humanoid aspect, "shifting" between the two when it suits them.
They began appearing on Chordas centuries ago, soon after the first landing by the Orrians and conventional wisdom always held that they were some sort of half-human/half-chordan hybrid. But the latest in naturalist lineage research has found the shifter have distinct genetic markers unlike any humans have, and a human/chordan child has never been conceived in observable records.
It has taken many generations but the shifters have carved out a home for themselves on Chordas and gained the respect of the other Chordan nations as their own distinct country and people. Shifter do not have a homogenous patron constellation. Some choose to look at all the Constellio Minor for inspiration while other choose one associated with their beastial aspect.
