The Dragonborn are a dragon-like people, originally from the continent of Aurum. The societies of dragonborn are loyal to a liege lord, one of the ancient metallic dragonlords on Aurum, and they fight against the chromatic dragons and their forces for control of the continent. Selective service in dragonborn societies means that every town contributes their youths to fighting in the wars against the chromatic dragons and their Kobold legions and every dragonborn is raised to fight.
While most live on Aurum, there are some dragonborn wandering the other continents of Fronterra. Some take the lessons of Draco and the metallic dragons to heart and set off to protect the weak and dispense justice in other places. Others see the chromatic dragons who've infested other lands as their responsibility and leave Aurum to hunt the dragons down. In most contexts, common folk view dragonborn with an almost mythic reverence, awed by the stories of valiant dragonborn heroes but afraid of their dragonic features, like their thick colorful scales, long claws, and giant teeth.
