Cursed Pendant of Shadows

"Lord Blackwood,

Enclosed, please find a mixture of coin and good that far exceeds our agreed upon price.  We will make arrangements to pick up the weapon at Carnock Fishery, as planned.  Remember, that little trinket you carry should only be used if the Zhentarim attempt to meddle further. Also, as a reminder, mutual discretion regarding this arrangement is advised.

                N."

This pendant is inlaid with three supernaturally dark gems. As an action while wearing this pendant, you can drain the shadow from one of the gems, turning it clear and summoning a shadow. The shadow appears in an unoccupied space within 10 feet of you and remains for 1 hour or until it drops to 0 hit points and obeys your commands. If you issue no commands to a shadow, it defends itself but otherwise takes no actions. Once you have summoned three shadows in this way, you cannot summon shadows again until the next dusk, when all three gems become black again.

This particular pendant has been cursed to allow each shadow to create new shadows.  In addition, as a bonus action, the shadows can draw 1d6 HP from the bearer of the amulet to save their own lives.  The bearer incurs necrotic damage that begins inside the body and the HP "travel" through the air as smoke.  At the first draw of HP, the amulet embeds itself in the skin of its wearer and cannot be removed without inflicting additional damage.
