This game is set in an imaginary analogue of Hampton Va, in the somewhat near future. Most places and locations from the real world exist, perhaps slightly changed in function or organization.
The players work for an organization called Museum Investigations, with their local branch called Hampton Investigations. Some people living within Hampton and the surrounding area believe that Hampton Investigations is merely a team of private investigators, others know that they are associated with local museums and universities in a research capacity. While some, a few, think that Hampton Investigations are involved in, or associated with, much of the weird and occult goings on in the local areas. These folks might admire the team, be afraid of them, or even consider them a threat.
Hampton Investigations is headquartered in a hidden/secret area of the Chrysler Museum.
