Who is around
Where are we
Tosca'lia, starting at the W.A.R.D.S estate.
We freed Galewind from the warehouse in the Tosca'lian harbour, and talked Elle Trollenheim of the guards into sending the raptors smuggled here back to the Callopian Isles, hopefully.
- Add stuff
Khohros puts Galewind in the yard and asks Suncaller the house-guard to get some meat from the butcher's for him. We sit down for a little 'fika' and Isaac (and Sai) fill us in on the Squire Quest.
Since the Vineyard is about 3 hrs by foot away, we take Khohros' wagon pulled by Arryn there.
The Giovanni Vineyard *Vineyard owned by the family of Sir Ricardo Giovanni. There is young girls on horses, a blacksmith, and a sparring/jousting grounds.
Located about 3 hrs by foot outside Tosca'lia.*
Calogero Rumblepotts, the missing husband. Emidio Rumblepott, goblin merchant and owner of the Brass Claw. Sir Ricardo Giovani, the elven knight and questgiver Roby, squire of the knight
We find the knight in the training grounds, and he invites us inside. He offers us the original reward from the quest the Roby the Squire took (30GP + emeralds). He is gonna award us an additional 100GP for saving the squire.
We speak with Emidio about the antique . He says he has a soft spot for antiquities and it being his birthday soon, he believes his husband went there to find a gift for him. He doesn't know much about the store, and says his husband learned about it by word of mouth while out on the town.
We ponder if the merchant might be behind this, but decide it might be a bit far fetched.
Perdutaboco The village where Calogero and Roby the squire went missing. Also where we can find the antiques store Time Not Forgotten.
To-do-list
- [x] Get rations
- [x] Drop off Galewind
- [x] Find books on magic artefacts that might have caused this
- [ ] Ask around if anyone has heard of this antique store before?
- Markosian, runs the ethereal cauldron
- Shautha, runs the black sun emporium
As we return to the house Maria & Vera pop out and tell us that the City Guards came by to tell us that they have seized the smuggling ship, and the raptors are going to be sent back to the Callopian Isles. Khohros Speaks with animals and tells Galewind about it. Galewind wants to be sent back along with his kin, so Khohros pops him into the Portable Stable again and drop him off in the harbour.
Splitting the party
Gathering Intel
- Yalana
- Elissa
- Sai?
They go to the massive Tosca'lian library, looking for books to borrow on magic things which can cause selective amnesia.
The Tosca'lia Library Borrow books by paying half the books' worth as a deposition, and bring them back within 2 weeks to get your money back.
They pick up a book on creatures and effects which have mind-altering effects. They also pick up a stack of some second hand pulpy fiction to read in the wagon.
Rations
- Khohros
- Fang
- Isaac
Khohros picks up 50 rations (50 rations á 5SP = 250SP= 25GP), non perishable, stocking them in Khohros' wagon. Gold meant to be taken from the party funds.
Khohros brings Galewind back down to the harbor and tells Elle Trollenheim about how Galewind wants to return to the Callopian Isles. They are being moved from the Coral Peacock-ship to a Safiran military ship, and we bring Galewind on-board. The other raptors seem like they calm down when he enters, going from shaking in fear in the cargo-hold to instead bowing in reverence to their royal companion.
On the road
We head off! Our main obstacle is the river crossing Sefira. There is a ferry crossing it, intended for merchants. Khohros teaches Yalana how to drive the wagon, meaning we are able to drive through the nights by taking turns. Isaac plays card games with Fang & Elissa. Elissa wins!
First night camp
Khohros uses Hearth of Moonlight and Shadow. Isaac attempts to cast Dream on the Mithril Moon, which fails. We take watches during the night.
During the night Isaac makes an attempt at speaking to the Mithril Moon in a hushed voice. A couple steps behind the familiar voice calls out. 'Evening Isaac'. Isaac asks about 'the Chain'? Asking if they are going the right direction, and if they are getting closer. Getting an affirmative, but that the Mithril Moon can't pinpoint the exact location of the chain.
On Yalanas shift, in the early hours of the morning, she hears the gentle noise of a cart moving down the road, a faint lantern on the top. The wagon is weirdly tall, seeming like one which would belong to a traveling merchant. It acts both as living accommodation and store. It stops not too far from our camp(roughly 20ft), a small figure putting down buckets of water for the horses and then jumping back up into the driver's seat. Yalana doesn't do anything, just keeping an eye on the cart and figure.
As we leave we see that the driver is a gnome with a patched tall hat and a tweed coat. We ask him if he's heard of the antique store in the village ahead. He has heard of the village but not the store, but he warns that the small roads ahead are notorious for bandit attacks.
The giant flower
Eventually Khohros spots a torn down camp, a fallen tree, and a massive... flower? in the middle of the road?? There is no stem, it is just a massive flower directly on the ground. The flower is unlike any I've seen before. Most of the time I have seen a massive flower like it, it has been in relation to the Feywild. By the bare of it, there is a great-axe, and some blood.
Khohros, Isaac and Sai approach the flower. As we get closer, a stench like rotting meat fills our nose. Isaac pokes it with Mage Hand. A vine slaps the area where he poked.
We put the goddamn wagon inside the goddamn portable stable.
The village of Perdutaboco
About an hour later, around 6 in the evening, we find the small village Perdutaboco. The sun won't set for a while longer. Isaac asks the locals about the flower, and they are unaware. They have not had many visitors lately, but they also never do, so there has not been much of a change. One of the recent visitors can be found in the local inn, and we head there to investigate.
We find the local inn, the Evening Bowl. Isaac summons their dagger in the shape of Elissa's dildo dagger. Elissa is offended, despite Isaac pointing out that imitation is 'the greatest form of flattery'. So Isaac gets rid of it again.
We ask around for the Time Not Forgotten-antique store.
No one has heard about the place, which shouldn't be possible considering the village has like 10 places maximum where you can buy anything. We agree to split up and look for the store, but if one finds it to under no circumstances interact with it alone, since we know people have been lost to memory before. What if we had a 7th member?!?
Sai suggests that if we don't find anything we should try casting Greater Restoration on her.
Yalana points out it is a good idea to go in pairs, and to pair the less chaotic with the more chaotic. We entered the village through the western side, and then
Isaac & Fang
South
Isaac is looking for the store, as well as dead trees. Isaac and Fang pass the blacksmith. They leave the village, heading into the forest, though not far enough to lose track of the village.
They find a large two story buiding, the fog from the forest disappearing. There is a sign up front, but it is not possible to read. The sun is setting. Isaac approaches to try and read it. A muffled faint echo is heard, and when 20ft away the sign is still not legible, everything way too faded. They head back.
Yalana & Elissa
East
Yalana and Elissa find a small little hut, grass on the roof. They can't see anything through the windows, and decide to head back. Window shutters closed, and lights inside.
We reunite at the Evening Bowl. There is a firbolg woman and her husband running it, and we order dinner & drinks. Sai shows off the banner, and the firbolg barkeep says she recognises it. About 4 or 5 days ago she realised the visitor was gone, and she heard a horse in the forest. Someone called Sennan, the hunter, knows about it.
Perdutaboco Villagers Colby, firbolg barkeep husband Libation, firbolg barkeep wife Sennan, the village hunter
She cannot recall what the squire was doing. We stay the night at the tavern, and in the evening Khohros looks through the book we borrowed in Tosca'lia. It reads about Illithids, and then speaks of theories about beings in other planes, close to ours. The beings there experience the universe in a 'grander way' compared to us, and scriptures written surrounding them can have severe mental effects. The author name is scribbled out in every instance.
Isaac dreams of a frozen landscape. They're laying in camp, a warm body next to them. As they turn, they are looking at the tavern room wall, and metal clatters as the Mithril Moon sits down by the bed. He says that the thing is nearby, outside the village. He also says that there are 'other things' out there.
The following morning
The barkeep woman doesn't remember her husband. Khohros casts Detect Magic, and finds out that the cloaked figure in the corner is a man named Jozef Willet. Khohros shows him the weird book, and he recognises it but does not know who the author is. He believes that the Time Not Forgotten store has a lot of very powerful artefacts. He joins us in the search, introducing himself to the rest of the party as Professor.
Jozef Willet He has black hair with almost a blue tint to it, a neatly trimmed beard, and round silver glasses. He is wearing fancy silver armour under his cloak, a circlet covered by the hair, and rings on several fingers.
