He was a fisherman who grew up in Shroomshire and travelled to and from there to sell his wares in the bigger cities. At one of these trips he (literally) stumbled into his future wife Delilah - after a few repeats they took the hint and began correspondence via letters.
After a few years they began courting, eventually settling back down in Shroomshire and having their first and only child together. He was (presumably) in the village as it burned down.
