Grymstein is a military city, whose main trade is soldier training.
One of the main initiation steps of the The Silver Legion + Royal Guard is training in Grymstein. Yalana has attended training here.
The silhouette of Grymstein is giant and formidable. Circled ny marble walls, sectioned up, as well as two canyons flanking either side
Population is primarily orcs, dwarves and humans, something which is evident in the appearance of the architecture.
Session 29
The main gates are closed. Two giant statues either side have chains between them, symbolically warding people off. The canyons flanking the city which usually lead to the undercity are closed off. Outside the walls is a myriad of little tents. The tent city is populated by a mix of wanderers, with some bigger colourful tents and an informal market.
When speaking to a nearby guard, we find out that the city has been on a hard lockdown for about one year, starting after a nearly world ending threat.(Session no. 9: The Dark City of Vaprak). The city had multiple sleeper agents. The walls were nearly torn down, and they lost many good people.
Durign the lockdown they are attempting to rebuild the city, now harshly vetting people coming in to prevent new sleeper agents.
Session 30
Grymstein is built in 2 segments, above ground and underground. The ground level segment is the 'old town', and once they ran out of space they started expanding downwards. Initially just storage down there, but nowadays there is all sorts down there.
The Snoring Boar
Sign is old, with a very poor carving of a boar on it’s back. Immediately inside is what seems to be a restaurant. Stairways up and down. Check-in counter. Breakfast included.
- Upper floor is bedrooms.
- Ground floor is restaurant.
- Floor down is drinks, entertainment, gambling and brawling.
Downstairs has red velvet curtains, very cozy. There's a fighting pit and card playing tables.
Session 31
The Steelgates District
We ask for where the best stores are and are directed to the Steelgates District, where there is a shopping plaza with many smaller stores.
Terian’s Pouch (general) Dwarf man with thick muttonchops.
Misca’s (books) Two-story book store. Dim lighting. Staffed by old human woman.
Blessings of the Wind (jewellery)
Run by an air genasi named Lucien. Kuterashian.
All sorts of jewellery, including the 18+ kind behind a curtain, clothing, information about custom commissioned pieces.
The Hunched Griffin (magic) Small magic store near the Steelgates shopping plaza. Sold us various things, including a Bag of Holding which was merged with our existing bag.
We find out you can only really buy warhorses here, no regular riding horses. Civilians and those less well off will generally use "travelling mastiffs", extremely large mastiffs large enough to carry a medium humanoid.
