Joseph and Matilda Novak (Papa and Mama) came to the United States from Hungary in 1957. As Mama and Papa are both quick to point out, all their children and many other family members have contributed, including various nieces, nephews and even grandchildren.
Novak's is an iconic restaurant in Willowbrook serving traditional Hungarian and Hungarian-Jewish dishes. which is located a bit outside the city center and currently helmed by his son Róbert (at lunchtime, Mama and Papa are often seen chatting away with regulars). Though pricey by local standards, Novak's shows off the brightest side of Hungarian fare.
