The Magisterium Circle

Magical studies are vast and never-ending, with new groundbreaking secrets being uncovered almost every year. Numerous institutions of arcane learning have sprung up over the years, but in 627 TKE it was decided to form a single cohesive group to share knowledge and research. This became known as the Magisterium Circle.

Grand Academia

Located in Orailles, it was this college that spurred the movement to form the Circle. Seen as the pinnacle of magical achievement, every graduate from this college has become well-known in the magical community as extremely intelligent and are often fast-tracked to high positions of power. However, it should be noted that the graduation rate is comparatively low, owing to their strict guidelines for success. Many have had nervous breakdowns over even simple exams, fearing the shame of being expelled, to the point that there is a growing number of "Arcanopsychology" majors, studying magic's effects on emotions and treatment of mental maladies.

Hasberg College

Though less strict than the Grand Academia, Hasberg is still regarded as a well-respected institute, and some graduates feel that despite the gap in intensity, they consider themselves more well-adjusted and more savvy in real-world scenarios than their counterparts in Senesia. While Grand Academia focuses on achieving the height of magical prowess, Hasberg offers more practical applications of magical study, and many move on to more civic and industrial professions. Many engineering marvels are done in collaboration with Hasberg College, as they pride themselves on being seen as less "arrogant" as Academia's graduates.

Bayt Altaelim

This institution in Jiyah, Sadah is not typically regarded as a college. Rather, it is considered a forum where students can come and go as they like to learn and discuss ideas. Though magic is studied and practiced, the primary focus of the Bayt Altaelim is theory. Some magicians, after graduating from one of the other colleges, will often go here to further their education and understanding of the arcane. Even those who struggle casting cantrips are welcomed to attend lectures, and many of the Altaelim's caretakers, known as Hakim, will sometimes take these people as apprentices if they think there is potential. Some of Sadah's most famous magicians started out as lowly commoners unable to cast the simplest of spells, but thanks to the tutelage of a Hakim master, they were able to overcome their shortcomings.

Császári Intézet

Interestingly, the Empire is included in the Magisterium Circle, with the Császári Intézet located in their capitol city of Merenvarna. Relations with the other colleges were strained even before the war, as though their contributions are significant, it's often as a result of questionable experimentation and exploration of "unsavory" types of magic, notably Necromancy. Contact is still maintained during the war, though tightly regulated. This has only happened a few times, and often in cases where research has lead to magic that is deemed too destructive or costly for even the Emperor to consider. Such information, though known about in general, has its details under strict protection from the public and known to only a select few.

Others

Other, smaller colleges exist throughout Ozel, and some are sponsored or considered "branches" of the above 4. That being said, there are some magical schools that, though powerful, are not included on account of not sharing the same school of thought. For instance, monasteries dedicated to faith have their own organization. Adraria's druidic councils are self-contained and are not devoted to unlocking secrets, but rather accept that nature would divulge its own secrets when it wants. Dion was once part of the Circle, but the Colegio Esoteros was destroyed in the explosion at the end of the Sacking of Troriraxos.
