Session 69: Nice Eel-People on Island's Coast

Fortune's Vanguard awoke sideways, in Sylvean Hideaway. The night before, a colossal spider trampled through the treeline, causing the tree-space we were in to rotate violently. We were safe as the creature moved onward.

The next morning, we took chariot and travelled westward. Along the way, Xael redeclared the name for the Grey Grapply Thing that ambushed us not too long ago. It is now known as a Dow.

In a large cold field, a series of large white lumps sat in wait across a snowy forest floor. Slowly, it crept towards some of the still-yet living critters. With spindly legs, the lump revealed itself to be a Large Beetle Covered in Snow. When the weird mandibles bit over the small creature, it glossed over with ice. Woodsworth Moure identified it as having some semi-intelligence, but a natural immunity to cold. We carefully left their hunting grounds without provoking them.

We found the coast during a New Moon of Apidoon, which bade our fortunes well. We slept soundly in an area without undead critters, and discovered in the morning that the waters nearby glowed only at night. Ripley daringly entered the water to investigate, discovering a coral mound magically glowing. Suddenly, with 3 flits of movement, she was discovered by the Eel-People. Speaking in Aquan, she heard a warning.

You are in our land. Leave.

Understanding the message, she gathered herself and returned to shore. We were able to peacefully coax the Eel-People into communicating with us, and learned of their land. Over the series of days, Fortune's Vanguard established peaceful travel relations through their territory, so long as have warning. Our established in-person signal was to drop a glowing rock off the side of the vessel if we cannot verbally communicate.

The Eel-People informed us of their hunting grounds, and of dangerous waters to the north. They know this region of water well! But, they did not understand what we meant by mountains. We learned of strange, smelly creatures, and others that would drive us mad, near the shores to our southeast. They spoke of the waters, and where we can safely take our boat. The Eel-People's community comprises of 30 to 80 individuals.

Afterwards, we continued our journey. Beginning to surmise that we are on only another small island, we traveled northward to follow along the coast. The Large Beetles Covered in Snow were out of their grounds, hunting, and spotted us! We were able to narrowly fight them off, but the chariot was lost in the process. We rested for the night, hidden in a tree of the quiet swamp. The rest of Sunwreath Isles  awaits!
