"Journal"

This pale brown, crisp clean book has the words "Journal" in gold letters written on its front. It was found within a Walled Facility at the Sunwreath Isles

This book is magical, it has an enchantment on it which protects it from minor damage, water spills, dust, and  other messes.

This book, when opened, has a few pages that appear to be a young man's daily, but incomplete journal. It goes for seven days, and then stops. The rest of the pages are blank. The young man's name is never mentioned.

Day one's entry details how the young man, in an effort to better learn from himself and improve his memory, with encouragement from a female love interest, decides to start writing a journal of his daily life. To ensure he returns to the book, he's noted he's added some spells to the back of the book.

Day two's entry goes over in detail the young man's events for that day. Most of which are mundane, but what stands out is going shopping for material components for scroll scribing, and later practicing spell-casting with his love interest. They had a lovely lunch that day. There appear to be some strange runes on this page.

Day three's entry goes over studying language, but no specific language is mentioned. There are some etched words in a unknown script. These written words do not have any paired words with them to translate them.

Day four's entry mentions a midweek outing to field study "exotic creatures". It mentions some names with minor details of these creatures, "Jemoy" of which moves fast on its one leg and long tail, "Glimmer" which only can be seen in one's periphery vision, "Irongrub" which can be domesticated, it excretes nuggets of iron.

Day five's entry is hastily scribbled and esoterically written, and speaks of "visiting lands further than the ocean", it is very difficult to make sense of. There are many shapes at the bottom of the page.

Day six's entry has studied notes of "those who practice divine magic", it is full of musings of how divine magic works, and where its power comes from. There are some formulae written in flowing handwriting at the bottom of the page.

Day seven's entry details how the young man is glad to of completed this weeklong test of writing a journal. While the young man found the act of writing insightful, he feels that it took too much time away from his studies. There are musings of returning to write future pages in the future.

The journal does not have any further entries.

There appear to be some encoded spells at the end of the book. Cleis has decoded them and can make copies or read them.
