After some time to rest a bit in the hideaway, we had a chance to plan our next steps and prepare. Woodworth was able to create some spells to help our less sturdy friends in these tight corridors, and we were able to press forward. Yet the thin air proved to be too much, and one by one each of us began to feel the toll of the air. With a little warm hug though, I was able to channel some more of my power and we were able to continue forward.
We saw several strange things in our path on through the darkness. First, some kind of awful plant that attacked my foot, causing it to bleed. Next, some bright mushrooms that caused energy to flow through nearby pools of water, burning our flesh. J'ack seemed to be very good at avoid these though. And finally, some kind of root. It smelled kind of like cheese to me but it seemed to frighten the rest of my friends quite a bit. I guess they don't like cheese. They spooked J'ack so much I had to hug him into my backpack. For his own protection, of course.
Most of our journal continued as such. Exploring, rest, explore some more, then resting in the hideaway. The most harrowing thing was J'ack stepped in some kind of black spores that began to crawl up his foot. I saw these earlier when I stepped into them but they didnt seem to be as strong as the ones he found. Luckily I was able to hug it away. Poor thing, his foot looks better now though.
Eventually, we stopped for the night in a long tunnel. When we awoke in our hideaway, we heard the sound of water rushing past. Between our magics and our brave friends, we figure that the mountain snow has started to melt and flood the cave with ice cold water. The only way out is forward, but, I sure hope we can find the sanctum soon so we can start figuring a way out.
I wonder if I should keep J'ack in the backpack more often. He'd certainly be safer..
