A small leather-bound journal with a strap, belonged to John Ogwang found in the Captain's Quarters of the Discovery. It appears to be mostly full with journal entries varying from weeks to months apart.
This journal appears to be a continuation of a series of journals, this one starting just over a year ago on Sweetmorn, 69th of The Aftermath, 3464 (3464-5-69) in the middle of John Ogwang's Career as a river trader. The entries often alternating between personal notes, and notes on inventory and pricing.

While I haven't filled out my last journal yet, the contract I've been hired for is as good as a time as any to start fresh! 5,000 gold pieces, 1,000 for each year completed, not to mention all expenses paid. I've already informed Rose of my extended leave on the 38th of next month. There is much to do to prepare, though The Slowcart Foundation has crew handled for the voyages we'll be undertaking, and as long as I don't cancel the five year contract, I get to keep the ship! There will be multiple voyages out from Egland while we explore for new lands to trade with. I can't help but be excited thinking of the new people we'll meet, and better yet, the deals that can be made! I'll own the first sea-faring ship known, and the money gained will ensure that Rose and Skipper, perhaps even my grandchildren can live in comfort for years to come.
Maklus has assigned me a sponsor, Zayn Moore, to help me prepare. I'll be meeting him a week before we set sail, up until then he'll be working with The Foundation to ensure all crew and supplies are in place. I'll be taking a week off to spend time with my family in Jellavial, before beginning my own preparations.

Zayn has really pulled through, getting us not only a full compliment of experienced deckhands, but also a Helmsman, Boatswain, Cartographer, Carpenter, Surgeon, and even a Steward! With so many experienced hands on deck, few will there be an obstacle we can't overcome. I'll be preforming the latter half of the trade for the ship "Discovery" in Zayn's Stead as he's some other business to sort out before we depart. He's given me a suitcase that's powered by magic! It unfolds into a boat, and then a bigger boat! Though it only is suitable for river and coastal sailing. If only the Discovery were capable of such feats...
I'll be meeting the proprietor of Fullblown Sail to give him the suitcase to complete The Slowcart Foundation's purchase they have made on my behalf. I've taken a look at the ship in the bay, but I'm eager to not only walk the deck of The Discovery, but also meet it's famed creator, Kr'af in person!

It's been a hectic month, we've bought the ship! We've loaded it, and after weeks of drills, we've set sail! We're on the open sea! There's.. no land in sight, but we will persevere! It's been much quieter on the sea than on the rivers and coasts. I'll need to keep an eye on crew morale, though I'm not worried as Boldo is a extremely talented Steward> Boldo ensures everyone is well fed, and even has brought a small selection of books to help entertain the crew. Who knew scorpions were such great hosts?

There's a stowaway on our ship! He calls himself Malystin, if that's even his real name. I'll be deliberating with the crew what to do with him in the coming days. We're already a few days out on sea, it would be shameful to return to port now. He's been co-operative so far, we'll watch him for the next few days before deciding what to do with him.

After discussing with Darwesh, Mota, and Boldo, I've decided to grant Malystin safe passage if he signs up as a deckhand for this voyage. I've instructed the crew to watch him closely, and immediately report if anything goes missing. I suspect he's little more than a fugitive, but i'll at least give him the chance to prove himself. I'll need to report him to the Guilded Guard of Egland when we return, else my integrity could be compromised.
For now, an extra set of hands should be helpful, though i worry for our long term food supplies if we're at sea for some time.

We have found land! We've circled the beautiful mountainous island, and have set anchor in the northwestern bay. I have named the island Rosemore, after my wife. I've sent out the deckhands to make a shore-side camp to help with exploration of the island. Oh the things we may find! There doesn't look to be any civilization on the shore, but there may be some further in! Perhaps around the mountains there's a settlement? We'll be exploring the island in large number to ensure our safety, and Sheldon will be marking anything of note that we find. Perhaps we could set up a port here in the future? It could take some time, but the idea of naming a port after my son is tempting enough to consider it.

Zayn seems excited to begin exploration of the land, he's requested a few deckhands to accompany him, who would I be to deny him? I'm just as excited to see what this island has to offer. I've assigned some deckhands to him while we continue to set up a forward camp on the bay.

Zayn has returned! I was beginning to get worried. He's found some sort of cave, and preliminary exploration of it has found a manufactured brick wall! Perhaps we found some sort of ruin? Zayn is curt as always, but i think he's as excited as I am to see what's beyond that wall. As per Zayn's request, I've put as many men and supplies as I can spare on this expedition, and I'll be accompanying it myself, who knows how long we could be there? If there's any treasures, we could soon return to Egland to get more supplies and crew to set up a more permanent location here.
