"Oh! You must be the newest trainee! Well, let me be the first to welcome you to the Court of Appeals. The first floor here is probably where you'll spend your first few days, unfortunately there is a lot of paperwork for you to fill out - after that though, you'll start to really learn the ropes on the fourth floor, that's our Paralegal floor."

Senior Secretary of the Capital Court of Appeals in Ok-La-Ay, Patli Nemacoan

Civil Servant Training

Those who wish to fill one of the many roles needed to keep the wheels of government turning need to be trained in order to do so. Beyond needing to be taught to read, civil servants in training will need to become familiar with the engine of government, the many higher ups and their positions, the parts of government, and most importantly, how to function well in the specific job they want to one day do.

Most people have ill feelings towards those who serve the powers that be. Often, civil servants are in fact doing things to improve the lives of the citizenry, but it is often not seen as such - when most people see civil servants, they see only taxmen, thugs, and layabouts. Indeed, the general impression is that they get paid too much for doing too little. However, occasionally people will recognize the good work they do, and may decide that one or two operatives of the state aren't so bad after all.

Usually, those who served as trainees in a government are naturally in favor of law and order. They often look to the organized power in any given region to find jobs to do or quests to undertake, and are quick to report any misdoings or problems to local authorities. That said, seeing inside the machine also gives you insight, and those who have served as civil servants often can spot corruption from a mile away - when they do, they are often the harshest judges of such behavior - unless they themselves are known to line their own pockets of course.
