13th of Birds
Before leaving Rusicadea, the Reclaimants decided to speak with General Lucius Martian about the missing caravans. They learned that two merchants had checked in at Colonia Rusitania and one at another town, but neither had made it to Rusicadea. They did find one caravan that was burnt and destroyed and most of the men slaughtered, though some were missing.
While travelling to the location of the burnt caravan, the party came across a little cabin on the side of the road. They decided to check in to see if the owner had heard anything about the caravans. A middle aged woman greeting them, her arms full of delicious looking food and the smell of more wafting from her kitchen. The cautious, the party decided to join her for a meal as Adom insisted that he was famished. Before eating, Adom said a prayer over the food and cast Cleanse Cuisine. While not intentional on Adom's part, Cleanse Cuisine does nullify any poisons, and Leith noticed that the woman seemed upset that this spell had been cast. The party ate the food, which was quite tasty, without any side effects. Aurent noted that while all of the utensils and furnishing of the home seemed well used, the actual walls appeared to be brand new. Still heavily suspicious of the woman, the party was not entirely convinced that she was connected to the missing caravans and decided to move on.
They found the burnt caravan and several men who had their throats slashed and then repeatedly stabbed. Leith found some tracks and followed them into the forest, but the disappeared. Leith noticed that where they disappeared, the was a line in the grass. He traced the line and realized that it made a square that was roughly the dimensions of the cabin they had just been in. The group hustled back to the cabin, but it had vanished into thin air. They decided to camp there for the night, hoping it would reappear in the morning. However, during Leith's watch, they were attacked by the very woman who had fed them earlier. Leith shouted to wake everyone and Adom used a healing spell to rouse the party. Aurent managed to disarm her and Beans savagely attacked her calves.
TLDR: If I've learned anything from Marshall's campaigns its to never trust children, sticky birds, and strange women in the middle of the woods.
