Mackinac Island Cats -- A Little World with Big Problems

On the icy waters of Lake Huron, in the Straits of Mackinac is a small island nestled between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. To the roughly one million burdens who vacation there, Mackinac Island State Park is a natural wonderland of hiking trails, towering coniferous woodlands, and  limestone foundations that still bear the scars of the last glacial retreat.

To the cats that dwell there, and those that arrive with the annual flood of seasonal workers, Mackinac Island is a shattered limestone vault of mysteries -- burial grounds for the human and otherwise -- cracked by the throes of ancient forces -- forces the bulk of humanity blissfully ignores, but which felines dare not.

Secret of Cats is a role-playing game based on Fate Core. Cats are both Sentient and Magical. Much of a Cats magic is driven through the sacrifice of non-sentient animals (all species have some degree of sentience, non-sentience. Cats are universally sentient, while other species, like mice, are far more often non-sentient)

Cats also have burdens. When those burdens are people, they tend to mistake themselves for owners of the cat in question. Cats might also have spiritual burdens -- spirits who do not have the same every day problems as people, but can be even more demanding.
