Damocles Meridian IV

The 113th King of Meridian, Protector of the Seas

Damocles Meridian IV was only 19 when he watched his father, Damocles Meridian III, stab his uncle Nitrotalus Meridian through the chest and send him sinking into the mouth of The Edge of the Deep.

He was barely 20 when his father, five months after he won the Nalu Tautoga, finally declared himself King of Meridian after hunting down his uncle’s former supporters. He had the people behind him, Meridian was shining with glory, and he held the love and respect of the people in an open palm.

Damocles IV knew he would be happy if he had even half of what his Father had. But he was not strong enough, he knew that for a fact. So he vowed to change that.

At the age of 21, Damocles IV left Meridian and traveled out to Yonia, where he later became an adventurer. He attained his Class-C license at 23 and move on to Gadencia to continue his training in the way of magic. There, he would meet his future lover, wife, and Queen, Astora De Filletage. The two became fast friends, faster lovers, and inseparable comrades, climbing up through to the A-Rank Class over the course of the next twenty years.

During his 20th year away, he received a summons from home. There was a Kraken threatening Meridian, and his father hoped he would come home to aid them in the coming battle. With Astora’s promise to aid him, the two made haste back to Meridian and, by the time they got there, his father was ready for him. They wasted no time and he joined the battle, leading the charge against the creature.

The battle was long and hard. Lives were lost, parts of the landscape destroyed. Astora was knocked out of the battle with an almost fatal broken spine and almost lost an eye completely.

But in the end, Damocles IV struck the final blow, coating as much magic power as he could muster into his trident as he stabbed the creature straight through the eye. Following his victory, he immediately asked Astora for her hand in marriage, to which she agreed earnestly.

They spent most of their time away from Meridian, Damocles IV in fear of his wife being rejected, but he returned on his 65th birthday after another summons from his father. When he returned. His father declared him Heir and would rule for another 12 years before he retired and gave the throne to Damocles IV.

While he was worried that he would not match up to his father, as soon as the crown was on his head, he knew what he had to do. He took the role of the king in stride and, before long, was as respected as his father as the 113th King of Meridian.
