Asmodeus

Lord of Indulgence, the Nine Hells, and Capitalism

"One of the finest lessons of history is this: If a man has been bamboozled long enough, he tends to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. He's no longer interested in finding out the truth—the bamboozle has captured him. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to himself, that he has been taken. Once you give the charlatan power, you never get it back."

The devil god of the Hells is the master of tyranny and domination. His words are honeyed and carefully crafted, soothing and corrupting the mortal heart. Asmodeus rules with an iron fist, and the punishments awaiting those that cross him are the basis of nightmares. He is the undisputed master of capitialism, designing his crown colonies around the basis of interspecies trade, and all his punishment are purely financial.

Asmodeus lords over his fiendish hordes from within his fortress of Nalsheem, nestled in the depths of Nessus, the ninth and deepest of the Nine Hells.

Depiction

A twisted image of the celestial blood that once bore him, the Lord of Indulgence is revealed in murals, tomes, and pictures as being a handsome tiefling with red skin, commonly shown wearing a suit and holding a cigar. Two curling horns rise from his brow, and his lips bear an eternal, knowing grin.

Enemies

Asmodeus's enemies are numerous, consisting of deities within and outside the Adamantian court. His enemies even exist among the Betrayers, many of whom only follow the archdevil for fear of his immense power. His archnemesis is depicted to be both Almeric, who continually wrangles him into the vices of mortals, and Primus, whose machinations have left too many restrictions onto the gods.

Beyond the gods, many nations disparage the Lord of the Nine Hells for his reliance on capitalist policies. Specifically, that he mandates all his followers spread capitalist regime throughout Kagrea. In several continents, capitalism is generally disregarded for more authoritarian governance such as feudalism and, most importantly, dictatorship.

Commandments of Asmodeus:

  • Assert dominance and power over others.
  • Repay cruelty done unto you with further evil. If others show you kindness, exploit it.
  • As you ascend to power, do not pity or show mercy to those you climb over to get there. Compassion is for the weak.
