Renny

Lord of the Culinary Arts

"One inch thick top sirloin steak. Salt and pepper heavily. Grill at 400. Four minutes total, flip each minute to get good grill marks. Let it sit for two minutes, down the hatch."

- Renny, Lord of the Culinary Arts

Renny was one of the many Arisen born mortal. His real story started as a single dad, whos wife passed away after childbirth. Without money to bring her back, and barely even enough to live, he searched for even the littlest ways to bring spice back to life. Working for years Renny learned how to cook with even the most basic of materials. Over time learning to cook wasnt just a way to bring joy to his household, but it became a passion. Renny filled his time not grieving, or stressed over his poverty, rather he spent his time perfecting his craft. His food was not just for his children and himself, soon the people of his town learned of his cooking, and even hired him to cook for them at groupings or town festivals. Renny was quickly able to provide better for his family with his skills, and the word of his amazing dishes quickly reached the noble who watched over where he lived. The noble brought Renny into his kitchen, and taught him how to use finer ingredients, yet Renny soon surpassed even his teachers, showing a natural prowess in the kitchen.

Living a modest but no longer poor life, Renny continued to cook happily, impressing the noble enough that he was sent off to his king for a banquet. Renny was not sure what the occasion was for, but he knew that if he did well enough he could give his children the life they deserved. What Renny didn't know, was that an Arisen was coming to visit for the feast. During the festival the Arisen Dominic became so enthralled by the elegant food presented by Renny, and the wondrous taste that accompanied he invited him directly to Adamantis to work for the inhabitants there.

With his dreams coming true Renny moved to Adamantis and served as cook, all the way until he became head chef for many kitchens located in the city. At some point that is unclear to most inhabitants, even the Arisen, it seemed Renny grew past his simple life as a man trying to cook well enough for his children and instead obtained a spark of divinity. Despite his new stature as a god, he continued to work in the kitchens and simply wished to spread the joys of the culinary arts to all the world.

Depiction

Renny looks far less regal than most Arisen do. His skin looks gnarled and tanned from obvious hard work, yet he seems to have a kind and gentle face. His facial hair is always kept neat and trimmed, and seems to add the the warm smile he gives most people he meets. Renny is never seen without his wide brimmed bowler hat. Despite multiple mortals and arisen offering to help fix it up, he insist on keeping the beat up hat on even when cooking. His clothes usually resemble that of a normal working mans from long ago, the style still very old yet somehow homely.

Enemies

While Renny does not often choose a fight with other Arisen, he has been known to get up and arms against those who would speak out against Mortals. He particularly does not enjoy Old Deus, and their dismissal of him as he was born a Mortal, and is one of the few who pushes Old Deus on purpose, attempting to bring them to anger simply because he knows they cannot kill him.
