Elegant weapons for a more civilized age, lightweapons such as lightsabers are the signature tools of Force users.

At its most basic, lightweapons allow you to roll your damage die with Advantage. They also allow you to make attack rolls using STR or DEX. Non-Force sensitives use this weapon with Disadvantage.

Lightsaber Forms

You can take a certain form when using a lightsaber. Changing form requires one turn. Forms must be learned to be able to be used.

A form enhances your skills based on your level. The Form bonus is equal to your level divided by 2, rounded up.

By default, a Force-sensitive can use Sii-Cho.

Other forms are

  • Makashi: When a creature makes a melee attack and you defend successfully, make a free counter attack. Add your Form Bonus in damage should you hit.
  • Soresu: When defending against melee or ranged attacks, you gain a -Form Bonus modifier.
  • Ataru: When making a melee attack, your attack roll gains a -Form Bonus modifier.
  • Niman: When using offensive Force abilities, your WIS Test gains a -Form Bonus modifier.
  • Vaapad: Add your Form Bonus to your damage rolls.

Duels

When a lightsaber user engages an enemy with a lightsaber or similar weapon in melee combat, a lightsaber duel ensues.

Lightsaber duels are based on momentum. Every turn, a Test is made to see which way the battle swings.

  • Battles start at 0 momentum.
  • Succeeding the Test makes momentum increase by 1, losing a Test makes the Test decrease by 1.
  • If the momentum reaches -2, you lose the duel and are at the mercy of your opponent (Out of Action).
  • If the momentum reaches +2, you win the duel and find your opponent at your mercy.

A Test is made by choosing an attack style. Your opponent will do the same. Your choices are revealed, and the Test is resolved. Powerful foe modifiers still apply.

  • An Aggressive attack style has Advantage against Unpredictable attack styles and Disadvantage against Defensive attack styles. It is made using your STR attribute.
  • A Defensive attack style has Advantage against Aggressive attack styles and Disadvantage against Unpredictable attack styles. It is made using your WIS attribute.
  • An Unpredictable attack style has Advantage against Defensive attack styles and Disadvantage against Aggressive attack styles. It is made using your DEX attribute.

Disengaging

Disengaging from a duel, to run away or do something else than duel (such as using Force powers) requires a DEX Test at Disadvantage. Failing means you remain engaged and lose 1 momentum.

Dueling Multiple Opponents

Theoretically, multiple combatants on one side can gang up on a single lightsaber user. This uses regular dueling rules, with individual momentum.

Outside Interference

Firing ranged attacks into a duel is risky. If the attack roll is even, an allied duelist is hit instead. If an enemy is hit, it deals damage as usual and shifts momentum in favor of the allied duelist. Using Spray & Pray hits both duelists.
