Originally a tent camp from during the final stages of the first war. The armies of Dragonlords reinforced this position after being encamped for a number of months for reasons that are unclear. As structures began to spring up and boats arrived with more supplies, the location grew to a walled town. Finding rich fishing, fertile coastland and local woodland for game here, many camp followers made Fort Dorion a home.

The fort has a storied history as it had a resurgence of martial pride during the Aresian Campaign. Fort Dorion sent a force of warriors; Dorion's Dori, to participate in the war, though they made no oaths of allegiance and would fight for the highest bidder between Aresian and Mytrosian commanders. It is often said the tide of battles could be turned on the day by sending a full coffer into the hands of Dorion's Dori, who would retreat when paid to do so. The day of three sides is the most famous day for this where the Dori started fighting for the Aresians, retreated from the field shortly after launching their first javelins and then rejoining the fight for the Mytrosians by noon.

The soldiers of Fort Dorion have never shaken the reputation to be the most mercenary individuals on Thylea, it is still believed their loyalty can be bought for those who have pockets full of drachmae. While they are skilful warriors they are never trusted to be honour guards and will often be left fighting in inconsequential areas. A Dorian's loyalty to home can never be questioned though, the town sports an independent army and navy much larger than its size would suggest due to often being leased to other city states. The town has benefited from this martial neutrality and is making a change to a neutral financial haven. It is the primary place where Aresian goods are traded to Mytrosians and vice-versa, always through independent merchants who take a cut.
