Fellowship of Fools

Prophecies and oaths, goddesses and elementals, what a haphazard web this venture is weaving. At least the Oracle is alive, despite our concerns on hearing the report of a witch holding her captive. Not the most useful guidance in the specifics, but at least Kyrah’s interpretation gives us an initial path to follow, though if the tales of other prophecies are true, there’s going to be multiple layers and twists hidden beneath this superficial level which will only be known in hindsight after they’ve come back to bite us.

I still wonder if this is all just some convoluted plot by either Kyrah or the Oracle to lead us in circles for their own amusement or some greater goals of their own – certainly the prophecy could be cynically seen as just an attempt to link up some of the major myths and legends of our time and send us off on a goose chase. Versi’s assurances regarding my own situation were hardly better than hearsay either, just confirmation that it was indeed a dragon that committed the foul deed and some advice to find the forge and skills of those who would have had vested interests in weaponry to defeat dragons in the past.

Nonetheless, the rest of the party are steadily showing their honesty and goodheartedness, even if not necessarily any recession of the tendency to doltishness in some cases. It will be interesting to see how their own respective endeavours develop with the advice of the Oracle, I feel even if solely in good intent and risk to themselves they have earned my support in attempting to resolve their own agendas, even if that will primarily consist of stopping them absently wandering off the nearest cliff for a few.

In all honesty, the siren surprised me today, not only throwing herself in harm’s way as befits a true hero, but also resisting the influence of the hag when even such stoics as Braz struggled to resist her assault. It seems her eagerness and enthusiasm is genuine and paired with a strong soul, so a little experience and good judgement could do wonders. I must also make some allowance for her memory – I cannot imagine not even knowing your own story and the choices you’ve made that brought you to your current path.
