Dragonlord Tales

A visit to Aesop was indeed on the cards and my younger self would have no doubt been effusive in the expression of his joy to hear tales of the dragonlords he always loved. Even in my more cynical and world-weary position I couldn’t help but experience a frisson of excitement on hearing the ancient oath, especially at the idea there’s a potential that others could take the oath in the future, possibly even those as undeserving as I myself.

Calliope kindly accompanied me to meet Aesop and seemed similarly affected by his words. I must confess that it is bringing me some joy to connect more with someone again, Calliope specifically is justifying my increasing trust of her with a similarly increasing demonstration of an honest and good heart. It’s somewhat thawing the pain that’s been dominating my existence for recent times and giving hope that in time I might recover some of my old joie de vivre.

After meeting with the others and indulging in some shopping (despite my previous increasing trust, a TAMBOURINE, really…?) we assembled and headed out to the Rock of Estoria to judge the lay of the land at the sacrifice point. Some interesting updates ensued, it turns out our fellows had spent their time encountering another of the gods, this Volkan seems an interesting character and worth meeting, certainly more so than the God of Prattle.

It also seems that the “sacrifices” are actually being fed to some basilisks, which we were able to track upriver to where they seem to have a lair in the river or ravine, so the discussion currently falls to attempting to lay a trap for the beasts to prevent their attack on the sacrifices in future.
