Alke - Session 07

We got lucky. We got very, very lucky. The basilisks proved to be clumsy and Pythor, in a fit of sanity, saved us from Sydon’s wrath. The weather proved to be the biggest menace, with so many of the others on their knees whenever the waters rose. They really do need to develop sea legs… I doubt our adventure will keep us on land. The sea is where Sydon’s storms come into their power, so why not lure us there.

Helikaon, next to me, was our shield and bravely held off one of the basilisks largely by himself. Calliope, despite whatever judgment one might pass on her confusion or her own lack of confidence in her abilities, showed the fighter and spell caster in her and bravely took a rather blood-curdling bite from the other monster1 basilisk. Hippofillius, as a giant spider was instrumental in defeating it. I remember a chill down my spine, the spider reminded me of the one that scared me as a little girl, the night before nanny died – I’m not sure whether it’s the memory of her death or a fear of spiders and, to be honest, I’m not sure which one I’d prefer it to be. Braz was definitely dedicated to defeating the harpies and Theo was helping along. Let’s just hope Braz’s dedication isn’t an obsession…
So we got lucky. Someone naïve may think that it’s an omen of things to come, I fear there’s only so much luck out there and dread that one battle when we run out. Just one, as if the upcoming foes are on par with these, one battle is all we’ll get…

Anora had gifts, very thoughtful ones. She’ll make a great ruler of the city. But I am repeating myself, maybe a sign of getting old. Or tired. Hopefully tired! Sleep and then the wine festival. We have something to celebrate, even if… who knows what disasters await us afterwards.

1Who am I, of all people to judge, maybe that’s what they were made to do…
