Weakness of the Flesh

Demetria is an interesting character to say the least… After a quick effort to free another group of boys from the grasp of the roots and urge them to freedom from the temple and a fast rampage through some goatlings in the kitchens, we discovered the obscenity of the meat being consumed here. Human flesh being fed to other humans, unwittingly as it turned out… Little wonder that such obscenities as the maenads were spawned from such depravity.

When we approached her feast hall, however, she was aware of our presence, calling us all in to join her despite our reasonable attempts to maintain some level of surprise if words came to blows. Despite her urgings to sit, I took a place against the wall, eyeing the gygan bodyguard and ready for things to go south as they were bound to do. It seems Demetria had turned against everything she stood for after atrocities committed to her sister and gave herself over to rage and revenge, taking it out on my brethren of the Oldwoods.

Unsurprisingly, once our “diplomat” had been called out as another target of Demetria and Lutheria’s rage, it soon came to blows. The Gygans certainly seem to live up to their historical reputation as fearsome fighters - two shields, two weapons and two spare hands to close into hand to hand (to hand to hand to hand to hand to hand to hand) is an almost insurmountable foe, I certainly wouldn’t have appreciated standing alone against such as these.

Fortunately, Hippofilius’ beast form was able to rip at Demetria and although she seemed to be linked to the Gygan, both had their reserves swiftly depleted by our assault, to the point that they retreated to whinge to their goddess for aid.
