Hippofilius- Session 46

Journal

After we had caught our breath once more, we ascended the stairs to the strange chamber above. Calliope crept ahead of us and from the shadows, creeping back a few minutes later to say she had spotted the bard we had seen in the sewers below. He hadn't seemed to have seen her, disappearing into another room across the main chamber.

Given we had encountered biles in the chamber below, this seemed like the colossus was laid out like a magical creature. With these chambers either side appearing like lungs, that central chamber appeared more like a stomach, fuelling the magic of the gigantic construct. Fearing a trap, Alke and I took a chance and dashed for the chamber at the other side, hoping to make it across without being spotted.

We were barely halfway across when the glass doors slammed shut and the room began to fill with acid, pouring from vents above. My hooves began to sizzle and burn in the caustic liquid and it was that moment when the bard rematerialised behind the glass from behind his magical invisibility. Our friends from the other side tried to haul a lever from within the room and reset it, but found themselves trying to contest with how difficult it was to move.

Seems like he had spotted Calliope. Shit.

But he wasn't the only one with magic up his sleeve.

Alke used some of her magic to keep the acid at bay, but it wouldn't hold for long. She tossed me the Horn of Balmytria and I blew into the end, summoning the magics within it.

On the other side of the glass, a deep fog, sparkling with the magics of the prophecy and divination began to form. As we were held senseless during our visions, so too the bard and a minotaur we had struggled to see until now grew sluggish and collapsed, finding it hard to rise, letting go of the lever, which let our friends now bring down the lever and let the chamber drain.

In such a comatose state, we managed to dispatch them with relative ease.

We advanced up into the chest and found a giant furnace, being shovelled fuel by sweating thugs. They threw themselves at us, but Theo hurled a gigantic ball of flame that hurled them in all directions.

Wow. Who knew he had that in him?!

We ascended one more level into the head. Darker and smokier, a single shape stepped out of the darkness towards us.

Moxena, the Lady of Coins, with an air of poise and control spoke. "Ah, you're here. Very well, I surrender."
