The Fall of Estor

Play

The Fall of Estor is a play written by Tassos. It takes place across three acts, and depicts the deeds of the ‘hero’ over his time in Thylea and his eventual fate at the hands of pirates.

First Act
The play starts with a soliloquy from Estor where he boasts of the righteousness of the Dragonlords and disparages the tyranny of the Titans. Throughout this whole scene, Estor’s dragon is presented as a coward for comedic value.

Estor tells of how he plans to throw everything he has at the Twins; a proclamation that has his dragon exclaiming “I’m too scared!” He ends this Act with a promise to defend everyone in Thylea, including the Centaurs and other native races.

Second Act
The Second Act shows Estor across his many battles. He prays to Mytros for guidance and for her to aid and show mercy to the Native races too, for “they know not what they do.”

Estor then approaches the other Dragonlords to try and convince them that - to truly obtain peace - they should entreat Lutheria rather than attempt to fight her brother-husband Sydon. The rest of his order, however, reject this idea and belittle him for it. In response, Estor takes his crew and sets sail alone instead to try and broker peace.

After some time sailing, Estor and his crew fall into a magical sleep where they are approached by Lutheria. She tells the captain that she cannot control her brother and so will be unable to stop the fighting. Estor is incensed by this, and ends the Act passionately proclaiming that the Twins will get their comeuppance.

Third Act
Estor returns from his travels to find most of the Dragonlords dead after they fell battling the Titans during his time searching for peace. He weeps at this, and wanes philosophical about the folly of the Dragonlords rule.

The scene then moves on to the arrival of the Five. Estor sees this as continuing the same mistakes his order had previously made and leaves, lamenting that the Dragonlords came to Thylea at all.

The final scene of the Act depicts Estor as he announces that he will put to rest the true legacy of the Dragonlords. However, he is interrupted as a band of pirates, all adorned with winged helms and led by a Siren, descend upon the Ultros. Estor and his crew fight back. Pushing the pirates back to their own ship, Estor makes a plea for his crew to leave - which they do - and he defeats the pirate crew single handedly.

The play ends with Estor triumphant over the pirates but alone on their ship, left to drift endlessly on his own throughout the seas of Thylea.
