Letter to Versi (#22) - Postscript
(Added to Calliope’s previous letter to Versi while sat on the beach at Scorpion Island.)
P.S. We got kicked out before I could try and talk to the Lotus Witch myself. I thought I might be able to bargain for another question, maybe bet upon a game of Twenty Squares... or something like that. But I got cut off by Braz and then, before I knew it, we were outside the tower. Unfortunately, that also means we didn’t get to address the child labour issue either.
The tower wasn’t all bad though. We have more information and - most importantly I think - a new friend.
Nessa is an old paramour of Hippofilius’ who has been at the tower since he left and, after nearly a decade, it seems that the Lotus Witch gave them a chance to meet again. She seems lovely and our centaur friend seems absolutely smitten. The glances he keeps giving her, well, it is enough to make your heart swoon!
Ah, it looks like we are going to miss out on the bonding party this evening in favour of continuing our journey. It is a shame… though I do think Loreus and Pythor have probably drunk enough for all of us while we were gone! They are currently trying to fight the sea which is both amusing, and slightly worrying…
Though, I suspect Hippofilius isn’t so disappointed to be leaving before the bonds. He is still not a fan of what they stand for, and seems to wish desperately they were different. We have spoken to Cy about changing the arrangement with the Aresians: though he seems to have little authority in this area. Maybe one day….
