Session 139 - A harmless little cat

6th Feb 2024 / Jasenus 5

The party return ot the ship, and leave the griffins and Amazons patrolling the island. Moxena looks around to ensure she is in a safe zone, and takes off her helmet. She looks at the Chosen.

“I trust this was satisfactory”

Hipofilius speaks up. “We’re here are we are alive”

“The losses were acceptable” Moxena says, almost heartlessly. She continues to speak on the battle. She complains of Pholon and others not following the rules of the battle - her orders. She tells them it is entirely possible that there were losses in the crew, but they held off the towns and the beach so the Amazons could fight. She finishes by telling them that the Island of Yonder will not be troublesome for a while after the Oath ends. She agrees that they have fulfilled the oath between them but they may cross paths in future.

Moxena asks if they join together in future that she is contacted by the women of their group over the men. Xan states she will hope to have her own court to deliver messages for her.

Braz asks if Moxena can leave people at the Isle of Yonder to protect the remaining residents but she declines, stating she needs to keep her warriors close to her.

With Chondrus on the boat Hipofilius asks if Moxena has anything to help them with having him on board as he is not to be trusted.

Moxena leaves them with a few words: “Chondrus is not a liar. He is worse than that. He will tell you the truth, his truth, and hes’s very good at making you think it was your truth all along. He will weedle, he will scheme. Take it from someone who does the same - but I doubt he has very many allies on your ship.”

They tell Moxena about their deal with Chondrus.

“We promise to carry you with us to the nether sea and the Hypnos, as a passenger on our ship accorded all the protections of guest friendship for the duration.

In return you promise to direct us, including providing knowledge and methodology of a route back to the Thylea and at all times act in good faith until The Chosen confront Lutheria herself.”

The only two mortals who went to the Nethersea were Chondrus and Damon, through different approaches. Moxena warns The Chosen to be careful.

Moxena leaves the ship again, taking a route around the island and avoiding the Ultros’ path.

On the ship:

  • Alke seeks out Loreus in the spa room - Chondrus joins Loreus in the water while Alke bails almost immediately. She then returns to the Antikithera to attempt to fix it. She discovers 18 positions on the dial.

  • Braz and Theo cook a broth together, both with ideas of different styles.

  • Calliope is walking the ship to help people, but inside is bottelling up anger beyond her current capability.

  • Xan uses the Loom to weave some images to help with with the islands

The journey from Yonder passes calmly, a little stormy but noting that the crew haven’t seen before. That is until they reach the Forgotten Sea, where a odd vibe creeps in. Something in the pit of the stomach of the crew send a paranoid feeling - “get out, you’re not wanted here.”

The sea is dark red black, almost like wine. This is the the Cerulean Coast.

The shoreline is obscured by a strange shimmering in the air.

Kyrah introduces it “The Blacksmith represents Voklan, the god of the forge. The legend tell a story of the master of his craft. Never found an apprentice and prayed to god. He took pity on him and created a bronze lifeless body to follow his every command. Volkon sent the spirit of the smith into the figure and whisked it away to a workshop beneath the mountains of Thylea - and he is still there today. His skills untarnished by time.”

S they approach the island a pull brings them at impossible speeds toward the island - in a matter of moments the ship has sailed three times aroun the island. The skies darken.

Hipofilius, Calliope and Alke fall unconscious. Xan and holds strong. Xan looks at her friends on the ground, holding to the wheel with all her might. The skies darken into night time. More stars fill the sky than Xan has ever seen in her life. Looking up stops her balance and she sees the stars fade as she falls unconcious, still holding onto the wheel with her arm.

Braz stands still.

He looks over at the mounds of sand and grass.

Time passed? How long?

Xan tried to bring the crew to, those that were up there, but there is no response. They are breathing but unconscious. She carries on shaking those she can see and making sure they are lying safe.

Braz is looking out over the ship - at some odd obelisk type thing in the distance.

Theo’s magic identifies this place as being in multiple streams of time at once - it is old and new, ancient and fresh at the same time. The magic belongs to the island, it is intrinsic to the island.

Xan and the Chosen jump down onto the obsidian dock. One minute later they reach the end.

3 minutes spent on the island.

They keep walking and head over the dunes, following Theo. Their steps trace patterns in the sand.

The dune suddenly speaks. The Lotus Witch speaks.

“...of course I bear you no ill will, I hope you find the treasures you seek here” a continued conversation that we were not part of “but know he is coming, and he will devour your whole, sould, your history, nothing shall remind, and three roars will announce his arrival”

The dune/Lotus Witch disappears.
