Valin and the Tiefling Girl

"This is the account of my (Valin's) stupidity of saving the Tiefling. Now, the adventure wasn't just rescuing this girl but had many other aspects to the story. I will be telling my recount of a section where I was the only one present and let my other fellow companions enlighten everyone with the other parts. Everyone was about to head away from the Kobolds that basically stole all of our shit, so we could get out of there alive. I felt we should have left a lot sooner but Waxillium wanted to negotiate. To his defense, he wasn't wrong in thinking/wanting we could come to peaceful or at least neutral terms. I wanted the same. The only reason I got into that situation was I jumped out of where I was stalking because they shot at Waxillium. I stood by him to hopefully defuse the situation, or at the minimum, be there to take some of the arrows''. Valin chuckles. "Anyway, once Waxillium gave basically everything of value he had to get us out of the situation, we all started to head back to the dome. For reasons I WON'T talk about...." Valin clenches the quill in his hand "I went back... No one came with me. To be fair it was pretty suicidal and the chances of even getting anything out of it was low. Thankfully, Waxillium gave me an hour of invisibility which was extremely helpful. I was on the outskirts of the camp, when suddenly one of the Kobold clan, out of the five, began to demolish the other Kobold clan. I thought this would be my opportunity to at least see where the Human girl (who will be talked about in another account) was being kept. I got into the center of the camp when I saw this stable tent. Inside was the girl, and in a tent, to my shock and horror, was the tiefling girl also in chains. I went to investigate the human girls collar but the damn thing was a collar of pure metal, so my skill with locks was useless. The only way to free her would have been to cut the Baggins leg off. Which for one with my strength would have been extremely hard, and two, the two females seemed fond of the creature. I began to think of a way to at least save the tiefling girl. The girl had normal chains, so I was confident I could work the lock, but I had no plan of escape. I then remembered I had oil and a tinderbox. At the time I was grinning like a madman at what was about to ensue. I put oil over as many tents as I could. Then once I freed the Tiefling (albeit after breaking a pick), I set the oil ablaze. Horrifyingly, the invisibility wore off." Valin grimaces as he recalls the memory. We were so close to making it unnoticed. However, some of the Kobolds spotted us and fired. The girl went down and I took some hits as well. I then began to carry her. I could feel the life fading from her. At the time, I believed the girl and I were doomed when I gazed upon a face I never thought I would’ve been so happy to see. Alvyn ran up to us and began to help me with the girl. Then not too long after Valorin’s beautiful Clawfoot, Skaarl, was able to help the girl by carrying her on its back. After that it begins to get blurry for me. Someone helped stabilize the tiefling girl, and for that I am grateful. I do have one thing to say and make clear. I vow to get that human girl from the castle. Whether that involves starting a war or a covert mission of a select feel it does not matter to me. However, I cannot go to sleep at night knowing that the girl is being whipped and abused by her captives” Valin sits back in his chair as tears begin to form in his eyes. “I swear…”
