We decided to head back to the Dome to the east. Some have started to call it the Thuthwatcher Dome. I am not certain for the reason. Our group was five when we left the sanctuary: Wax, Jarvis, Furet, Zazu and myself. The plan was to scout an additional northern path on our way to the crevice.
During the journey we ran into a giant manta ray that could fly. It emitted some sort of fear aura and attempted to eat Jarvis. Thankfully Zatt was foraging in the area and he joined us to slay the beast. I still find the creatures in this world strange and alien but well worth documenting.
Once we got to the crevice we got ambushed half way down. Around half a dozen kobolds exited the secret trap door we found last time and proceeded to pellet us with fire while a master sniper took perch on top of the cliffs and proceed to shoot at us from the top. I honestly thought we were done for a moment.
We decided to split the group in two in order to deal with both threats at the same time.
Wax used his mystical magic to give himself and I the power of flight. This allowed us to fly behind the cliffs in stealth to the scout on top and engage him on an even playing field. The scout was quick and hardy and but we managed to prevail.
At the same time Jarvis, Furet, Zazu and Zatt engaged the kobolds at the bottom of the crevice. As dangerous as the master sniper was their fight turned out to be much more difficult. The kobolds were coordinated and knew exactly what they were doing. Some of them even wielded basic healing magic prolonging the fight. Two of them were using spells in a similar way as I do when I incite musical enchantments. These kobolds are far different to the ones found at home and much more dangerous.
In the end we prevailed and took refuge to recover. I decided to write this during our rest in case something happens to us. That way others would be warned of both the kobolds and their intent to do harm.
One question remains...what are the kobolds doing here.
