Session discussed: Rage, Shadow, and Ash Pt. 5
After arguing with Jarvis for a better part of a day we decided to go back east again. He wanted to go to the kobold fortification north of the Oasis and use a bird to scout it out. I was not very fond of the idea given the large beast that chased us out of the area previously but agreed we would go as long as we kept our distance.
We found birds near the saltpans and Furet did her nature magic thing to make it friendly. As we were turning around towards to north, and the kobold fortification, purple lights appeared on the horizon to the east. I assumed they were kobolds and we decided to setup an ambush.
Unbelievably...two orcs, one gnoll and a troll showed up...together. The only thing I could think of was that all they were missing was a goblin. Needless to say our ambush was a flop and one of the orcs cast a silence spell on us which caused the battle to commence.
In the end the orc commander remained because we apparently could not manage to kill him. Frankly he was kicking the living snot out of Jarvis and Furet and I took turns healing him in-between killing the trolls animated hands that sprang from its body after it died. True story...
The orc told us the following in no particular order before he let us gracefully withdraw:
The Ash Lord will find you. This is our land now and claimed for the sisters. You killed Sarsu the Ash Lord knows of this. He is on his way. If you return, come to this spot & wait, come no further. Ask for Utt'akun, perhaps the Ashlord may have something you can do to redeem yourselves. I take it you are the ones with the stone. Use that to respond.
From my understanding Sarsu was the other orc that cast the silence spell. Jarvis smashed his face in and we looted a magical gauntlet that we figured Six could use. Apparently it is made of a material from land of Dragons(DM edit: 'Land of 3 Dragons') and the Lords of Madness also known as the Dalkir. The Dalkir can assume any form and speak any language. They look like humans covered in chitin with claws. Apparently, the material of the gauntlet was used to fight these Dalkir.
We retreated to the mini oasis from where we launched our kobold scouting mission, which involved sending a bird toward some 30 foot crumbling walls manned with kobold guards that decided to kill the bird with a mini ballista looking contraption.
At that point I looked at Jarvis and said: No! We are going
home!
