Vung Ria
The capital city of Su-an Toan, Vung Ria is located around the Sealed Basin, or Bikua Lake. The majority of the city sprawls about the lake's western and northern shores, along flatter land. The buildings are squat and crowded, often bringing outsiders to complain of un-navigable or claustrophobic streets.
Mountains climb the lake's eastern edge. The city climbs these slopes with staircases and plateaus. A separate mountain contains The Soul of Su-an Toan.
Much of the city bears the markers of the revolution held approximately two hundred years ago. Major sites have been left as they were those centuries ago, while other buildings have been repaired, their cracks filled in with various materials to highlight where it once was broken.
The Soul of Su-an Toan
Once, this plateau was the stronghold of Qui Kieu, holding her palace and strongest military forces. Since her downfall, her palace became the hallowed Halls of the Linh Thiéng Council.
Surrounding this area are the abodes of the wealthy and elite of Vung Ria, as well as its Spirit Gate and the Antipodes.
The Antipodes
A pair of pagoda towers dedicated to the god Song Chet. Song's tower is strung with lights, and topped with an ever-burning flame. The lights glow throughout spring and summer, like pinpricks of fire.
Chet's tower is woven with trellises that in turn sprout flowers year-round. The blooms change throughout the season. In autumn and winter, the tower glows a gentle blue, with the soul flowers that open upon them.
Around the Antipodes is a lush park, brimming with wildlife. A turtle pond and cemetery is within this park, where the exalted of the necrocracy are buried.
The Spirit Gate
As part of the revolution against Qui Kieu, Serien offered her aid. The spirits of her domain lent their strength to the revolutionaries of Su-an Toan. In gratitude for this help, and as a marker of mutual trust and respect, a stable spirit gate is constructed within The Soul.
It can be opened at any point in time, although it is easiest under Serien's full moon. The gates are kept guarded from interference. It is automatically opened during The Ghost Festival, during which spirits are welcomed into the city to partake in the celebration. Mortals are allowed to enter the Spirit World as well once they have reached adulthood, with the acknowledgement that none can be responsible for the consequences that may befall them.
