Lantern's Cradle

A sacred place devoted to Unknown. It is the domain of Unknown and the destination of many pilgrims. 

Though many of the devout make the journey out of a desire to connect with their god, Lantern's Cradle is also a destination for the most desperate. When a loved one cannot be given final rites, the living will travel to Lantern's Cradle as the final effort to guide their souls to the path. As part of this ritual, the pilgrim travels a paved road, a journey that can take several days depending on pace. This involves the entrance through the gates (funeral and final rites), traveling downstream (burial), reaching the lake (meeting of turtles), traveling upstream (following their guidance), arrival in the firefly grove (afterlife), and finally reaching the hatchery and exiting (birth and continuation of the cycle).
