A Shard of Possibility is a raw, unfocused material that hums with faint magic and tends to latch onto the first creature to encounter it. Special measures have been developed to harvest these shards without immediately binding them to those gathering them. While they do not possess any useful magic effects on their own in this raw state, through rigorous experimentation and careful study of these Shards a more practical application has been found for them. By magically refining them with various different processes to serve a specific purpose, they grant their bound user the ability to more readily absorb information.
Once this property was discovered, the demand for Shards skyrocketed and the processes necessary to refine them became a prime focus for scholars and crafters. Most notably the Shards are crafted into Job Crystals.
